Corona treated films and papers

The issue:

Corona treatment involves exposing plastic films, paper, and laminates to a high-voltage, high-frequency electrical discharge, creating a corona or plasma on the material's surface. While corona treatment improves surface wettability, it can also introduce static charges. These static charges can result in uncomfortable shocks to the operator, attraction of dust and contaminants, etc.

The remedy:

After corona treatment, static charges on films are effectively removed through ionisation, to neutralise static electricity. Valstat static charge eliminators are used, as can be seen in the sketch below, where a cloud of ions are directed towards the charged substrate to neutralise them.
