Eltex electrostatic print assist (ESA) – static elimination and charging for gravure print quality

The Eltex (Germany) ESA improves ink pick-up thereby achieving complete transfer of ink from the print cylinder to the moving film or paper. This significantly enhances print quality on rotogravure printing machines.

The ESA system is a combination of static discharging and charging bars. The static charges are first removed from the film or paper entering the print station. The impression nip, made of a layered special rubber, is then charged to the desired level, which helps in complete ink transfer. These systems are ATEX certified to be used in hazardous areas of solvent-based printing and in water-based gravure printing.
