The issue:

Electrostatic charges commonly occur during unwinding, due to the web separation process at the unwinder. Surface voltages can reach ±50 kV, sometimes even higher, hindering subsequent processes, creating operator hazards, and increasing the risk of fire. Hence, it is crucial to eliminate static charges at the unwinding station.

The remedy:

The solution lies in the use of static eliminator bars, which function by directing a balanced flow of positive and negative ions toward the charged surface. This process neutralises the charges. Proper placement of the Valstat static eliminating bar, as depicted below is essential. VR90 DC static eliminating bars prove highly effective even when positioned 50-75 mm from the maximum radius of the roll.
