The issue:
In the carding process, the Fibers are separated and then brought together into a loose strand (sliver or tow). The locks and tangled clumps of Fibers are loosened and then lined up, so that all the Fibers are almost parallel with each other. Static charges causes the Fibers to cling onto the delivery section, thereby preventing formation of a good sliver or tow.
The remedy:
Install Valstat anti-static bars at the delivery end (web to sliver formation), as shown in the below diagram, for the effective removal of static from the carding process. The bar provide a blanket of positive and negative ions to neutralise static charges from the Fiber. The result is a well formed sliver which allows the machine to be run at optimum high speed.
