The issue:

The decorative board market is witnessing a rise in the popularity of visually appealing pre-laminated or thermally fused boards. The manufacturing process involves pressing a melamine impregnated décor paper onto one or both surfaces of particle board, MDF, or plywood. However, a significant issue arises during the transportation of these layers to the heat-and-press section through conveyor rollers. The perfectly positioned layers tend to shift, leading to non-uniform edges, wrinkling, or bubbling, resulting in wastage of the final laminate.

The remedy:

The pre-positioned décor papers and board, are affixed to each other through electrostatic charging, ensuring perfect positioning during the conveying stage. The layer/s of décor paper cling to the board, as if a temporary “glue” is applied by the charging process. Thus the layered pre-laminate is precisely positioned and ready for the heat and press operation. See the sketch below, to understand the positioning of the Valstat VC series electrostatic charging bars.
