The issue:

Electrostatic charges are observed on narrow web and wide web duplex slitter rewinders, where bare films or laminates are processed. The static charges are created due to the slitting action, contact with and separation from idler rollers, etc. On the rewinds, as the material builds up, the static charges get enhanced and thus can create problems like dust attraction, discomforting shocks to operators, etc.

The remedy:

Eliminating static charges is achieved through the use of static eliminator bars, which guide a well-balanced stream of positive and negative ions toward the charged surface. For rewinders, it is recommended to utilise Valstat AC static discharging bars, if they can be positioned on the lay-on roller at close proximity to the surface of the rewind roll. If that is not possible, position Valstat DC static eliminators, that offer the distinct advantage of effectively discharging static charges up to a range of up to 600 mm.
