The issue:
On the rewinder of a film extrusion line, when the pre-decided diameter is achieved, the film is cut, and the finished roll removed. Simultaneously, a new core is introduced for winding the film. Normally, the leading edge of the film is glued or taped onto the new core, to begin winding on the new roll. The glue or tape is likely to create wrinkles, leading to wastage of the first few inner layers of every wound roll.
The remedy:
Electrostatic charging of the leading edge provides proper bonding of the film to the new core, thereby ensuring that the winding is spot-on from the first layer. The first few meters of the film that were wasted in the earlier taping process is thus saved. Valstat static charging bars are highly effective in providing adequate bonding force between the film and the core. Position the Valstat VC series electrostatic bars, as shown below.
